Uusi tulokas on ylläoleva Ceramic Storen pata. Mikron, uunin ja tiskikoneen kestävä. Ehkä laitetaan siinä jokin laatikko?

Sydämet lasinalusina luovat joulutunnelmaa.

Poro tuli hankittua pienestä käsityöliikkeesta. Ensin se toimi vain koristeena, mutta siitä kehkeytyi aika pian vesikannun tippasuoja. JuliART tekee tuotteita myös muista eläimistä, mutta poro taitaa olla suosituin - ainakin minun suosimasta käsityöliikkeestä ne loppuivat ensin. Tämä sympaattinen otus on ollut veikeä lisä ruokapöytään.

Presents, café and friends

We spent five hours talking to each other. Catching up, it's been two months since we last saw one another.

We exchanged gifts (as usual) and laughed way too much. Nice espresso macchiato for me.

Lazy food - laiskan ruokaa

Äitini kehui tässä vähän aikaa sitten Pirkan Pesto-kastiketta. Sitä kun kuulemma tarvitsee erittäin vähän saadakseen pasta-ateriaan makua. En uskonut hänen puheita teelusikallisesta pestoa yhden hengen pasta-annokseen - tässä ei siis ole muuta kuin pestoa ja pastaa. Mutta kyllä se vain riitti! Purkki maksaa vähän päälle 2 €, joten jos yhteen annokseen pastaa laittaa teelusikallisen pestoa, tulevat ateriat aika halvoiksi. Ja oli kyllä hyvää <3

Kovin ravitseva tämä ei tai olla, mutta joskus niinkin. Gnocci-pasta on tässä ruokalajissa suosikkini - kulhomuotonsa takia pastaan tulee sattumia ;)

One teaspoon of pesto for one portion of pasta is enough. Nice!

Disney-leffassa saamelaisvaikutteita?

Tumblr osasi yllättää tänään - marraskuussa 2013 on tulossa uusi Disney-elokuva, jossa on ilmeisesti "uusi prinsessa". Kuvat kuitenkin tuli huomioitua, prinsessa Annan vaatteissa on selkeää skandinaavisuutta (ensimmäistä kertaa?) ja saamelaisuutta.

Ainakin viimeisessä kuvassa näkyy saamelaisuus. Jää vielä nähtäväksi miten paljon muutetaan itse elokuvaan vaatteita ja yksityiskohtia.

Imdb:issä näytetään jo hahmojen nimiä: Anna, Olaf, Elsa ja Kristoff ovat päähenkilöitä. Skandinaavisia nekin, vaikkei ehkä täysin suomalaisia. Kristoff kuulostaa melkein venäläiseltä tai puolalaiselta? Olaf ja Elsa taas viittaavat länsinaapureihimme.

Jännittävää! Lopputulosta odotellessa saa tyytyä Hobittiin ja Star Trekiin.

Benedict Cumberbatch and the Sami bracelet

Benedict Cumberbatch is a really admireable person. He's so talented, such a great actor (the best) and still so humble and insecure. And he wonders why he has fans?

Well, now he got all my heart - I've never in my entire life seen a celebrity wearing SAMI JEWELLERY! My heart jumped when I saw these pics, it was a greater moment than watching the Star Trek Into Darkness-trailer.

The Sami people live in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They are the only indigenous people in the European Union. They have their own culture, clothes, language, jewellery, food, lifestyle... The art of making Sami jewellery isn't an obvious fact in the world - the jewellery isn't sold in too many places and genuine ones (made by the Sami people) can be found only in some places. Here in Finland you can recognise the so called real Sami jewellery by a stamp - I don't know about the other countries.

So, Sami jewellery is quite rare, but nowadays a company called Hanna Wallmark sell these kind of jewellery in several countries. I would make a guess that Benedict's bracelet is Hanna Wallmark, unless he's been up to Jokkmokk ;) It's even possible to buy Hanna Wallmark online.

To make things even cooler, I have an almost identical bracelet that Benedict has! (Comparison, scroll down) I wear Sami jewellery every week, some of them has been in the family for decades, some are new with a modern twist. The one Benedict is wearing is traditional with reindeer skin, reindeer bone and either tin or silver details.

Christmas decorations - Bling and Finnish

I put up the Christmas decorations really early this year - usually I only have the calendar until 20th December. Now I wanted to enjoy the Christmas spirit a bit early, so here are my decorations in all their simplicity:

 

This cross is a traditional Finnish cross, mainly from the archipelago. It's a Tuomaanristi (Cross of Thomas). It's usually put up on Thomas's day on 21st December, but as I sad I'm a bit early this year. I don't think you can find this cross anywhere else than in Finland - if you are a tourist and want to buy something unique from Finland, buy this! Mine is from a small handicraft shop from Vaasa, but it's possible to find the cross in other places as well. My parents have an old one where the wood has become dark with time, but the cross is partially destroyed today. I was a lively child...

The Christmas trees are from Ikea, the Christmas disco ball from Indiska, I believe. They give a bling factor to my home.

Perfect matches - tuoksuvat lahjat

Hyvää launtaita kaikille!

Parfyymit ovat tavallisia joululahjoja, mutta harvemmin muistetaan ettei ne aina tule yksin. Paitsi deodorantteja myydään myös erilaisia ihovoiteita oikeissa tuoksuissa. Ihovoiteista minulla ei ole kokemuksia, tyydyn halvempiin, mutta muutama deodorantti-parfyymi pari minulla on.

Ja tosiaan, tuoksuja ostaessa kannattaa huomioida eau de toilette'in ja eau de parfumin ero. Parfyymit kestävät pitempään hyvinä - siitä hintaero :)

Chanelia erityisiin hetkiin, Kenzo Flower on klassikko, Amourilla väkevyyttä ja Nina Riccillä makeutta. Arkielämän luksusta parhaimillaan.

An evening at the theatre...

Good evening.

Today I've enjoyed culture with a friend. I've lived in this small city for a couple of years but I could never have imagined that I'd get to know so wonderful people and really enjoy the theatre here. Naturally I've seen several plays in Helsinki, but this small city really has something to give to it's people - they put effort on their plays', and it really does show! The feelings today's play gave me match the ones with Reichenbach Fall...

When it comes to friends, I've only thought that I'm going to live here for just a few years and then move on. I never thought that I'd get to know such real people, people that care for me and learn to know me! I almost feel bad about hurrying to get out of this place, but on the other hand, life moves on elsewhere too and friendships last for a long time. If not otherwise, at least on Facebook ;)

Hellohello!

Personal life's been a bit difficult, so I put on my battle dress. This one cheers me up:

I bought this one about three months ago. It works with jeans as well. My grandmother wondered why I'm wearing an apron. I'm not.

You can find the dress here. Desigual isn't the cheapest brand, but the clothes I have have survived well me actively using them. This Lara-dress is a bit tricky with the washing - it needs to be hand washed. Damn.

Christmas wish list

Hello again :)
I should be reading, but can't, so I came up with this Christmas wish list. I hope to buy the yellow Cambridge satchel bag cheaper after Christmas?...
In my flat I do not have room for this wonderful lamp. I simply love it! Perhaps one day...
I take home at least 2-3 small plastic bags a week. Ecological small bags would be really nice :)
That hat <3 It's Finnish and eco. They make gorgeous sunglasses too!

And I won't be getting any single one of this for Christmas XD That's life....

Hello! My camera didn't like me today, so the first picture is a bit unfocused, but hopelly the others make up for it.

The fleece is from Cyber Shop, Kamppi, Helsinki. I like the too long sleeves --> warm
The jeans are by Monkee Genes and they are too big. Damn.
The shoes are my second oldest El Naturalistas - dark brown and partially leather. It's actually quite ironic they are so old (bought in 2003(?)), because they still look really good. Take care of your shoes so they last long and you're ecological :)

Sunnuntaikävelyllä ja hyvää ruokaa

Milloin elämäni on tullut sellaiseksi, ettei vapaita viikonloppuja ole olemassakaan? No, kävinpähän kuitenkin pitkällä päiväkävelyllä ja ihastelin Marimekon uusia neuleita. Tämän malliston värit ovat ihan minun makuuni, ehkä jokin niistä löytää tiensä joulupukin konttiin...

Pakkasta -12, ei tullut tyynyillä levättyä.

Keskustaan tosin menin joulumarkkinoiden toivossa, mutta siellä ei ollutkaan mitään :o Hämmästykseni oli suuri, ehkä tulevana sunnuntaina olisi parempi onni.

Kaunista auringonlaskua tuli ihailtua.

 ...ja taas kotiin lukemaan. Tällä kertaa ei vain vihreän teen voimalla voinut jatkaa - pätkis, suuri heikkouteni, auttoi jaksamaan.

Pätkiksen ohella tuli syötyä myös kunnolla :) Resepti on tästä kirjasta. Suosittelen kirjan hankkimista lämpimästi - siinä on paljon vegetaarisia reseptejä (tämän päivän ruoka oli vege) ja reseptien hintatasot vaihtelevat äveriäistä opiskelijatasolle. Kirjasta on ollut iloa jo vuosikausia.
